“A tantalizing, titillating tale of a love triangle that leads to tangled trouble. An airy, very amusing romantic comedy.”

Plot

In the bustling hub of The New York Evening Chronicle, we meet James Gannon, the city editor who prides himself on his hardened, self-taught journalism. Gannon, who never even attended high school, firmly believes raw experience in a newsroom trumps any college education. For him, the story's essence lies not in the 'why' but in the cold, hard facts. When he's invited to guest lecture at a night school journalism class led by E. Stone, Gannon mistakenly assumes Stone to be a man. He responds with a curt letter, explaining his disdain for academic journalism and his unwillingness to waste his time on it. However, his boss, Lloyd Crowley, orders him to attend. Upon his arrival, Gannon is taken aback to find that E. Stone is actually the captivating Instructor Erica Stone. As she reads his dismissive letter to the class, Gannon, in a twist of mischief and pride, decides to masquerade as a student, intending to embarrass her. Yet, the unexpected happens: amidst their intellectual jousts, a spark ignites, and they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. Erica, oblivious to Gannon's true identity, even begins to see potential in him as a journalist. Complications arise when the gifted Dr. Hugo Pine enters the picture as Erica's potential suitor. Gannon, unable to resist his growing affection for Erica, challenges Pine's advances, leading to a heartfelt, humorous, and complicated love triangle. As Gannon and Erica navigate their mutual growing attraction, they also discover a newfound respect for each other's differing approaches to journalism. However, a looming question hangs in the air - how will Erica react when she uncovers the truth about her intriguing student? Is he just another pupil, or the notorious James Gannon she so despises? This captivating tale of love and deception in the world of journalism promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, eagerly waiting for the truth to unfold.
