Plot

In the vibrant landscape of West Berlin, Frank Ripploh leads a dual existence that is as charmingly eclectic as it is daringly provocative. By daylight, he is Herr Ripploh, a bearded, shaggy-haired public school teacher with a dedication that is as unassuming as his appearance. His professional sphere is a world of chalk and chatter, student papers and polite colleagues. Yet, it's his peculiar habit of marking students' homework in public washroom stalls, an unusual merging of his two worlds, that hints at the life he leads under the veil of night. As the sun sets, Frank sheds his teacher skin, transforming into Peggy - a dynamic, openly gay man with an insatiable appetite for anonymous liaisons, often sought in the most public of places. This nocturnal persona thrives on the thrill of the chase, the exhilarating unpredictability of each encounter. However, Frank's life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Bernd, a humble movie theatre clerk. Bernd enters his life as yet another fleeting affair, but soon finds a permanent place in Frank's apartment and heart. Bernd dreams of a tranquil future together, nestled in the tranquility of a farm, while Frank's heart yearns for the electrifying liberation of his nocturnal escapades. Despite his love for Bernd, the restless spirit within Frank refuses to be tamed, leading him back to his quest for thrill-filled encounters. Bernd's tolerance is tested as he grapples with Frank's adventurous lifestyle. Frank's high-risk behavior lands him in the hospital, but even that can't curb his cravings. The tension between the two lovers reaches a boiling point during the annual Queen's Ball, forcing Frank to reassess his life and the choices he's made. Taxi zum Klo is a daring exploration of a man's struggle to balance his need for freedom and exploration with his desire for love and stability. As the lines between Frank's professional, personal, and nocturnal life blur, the question remains - how long can he ride the exhilarating wave of his double life before one world threatens to swallow the other?
