Plot

In the documentary Take My Nose... Please! (2017), we delve into the lives of two comedians grappling with the idea of cosmetic surgery. Emily Askin, a rising star of the Improv scene, has dreamt of reshaping her nose for as long as she can remember. In contrast, the seasoned comedian Jackie Hoffman sees herself as unattractive, a sentiment that sparks regret for not having undergone a nose job in her youth, and now, thoughts of a face-lift. Simultaneously humorous and poignant, the film weaves their stories together, offering a glimpse into their personal struggles with beauty standards. As we journey with them, we also encounter other individuals, some who have braved the surgeon's knife and others who have chosen to resist. Balancing the narrative are insightful perspectives offered by psychologists, sociologists, and cultural critics, who collectively shed light on the broader societal implications of this deeply personal decision. Offering both comic relief and profound wisdom, the film features guest appearances from a host of comedic talents, including Judy Gold, Julie Halston, Lisa Lampanelli, Giulia Rozzi, Bill Scheft, and Adrianne Tolsch. Take My Nose... Please! is a captivating exploration of identity, self-perception, and the pressures of conforming to societal ideals, peppered with the unique wit and wisdom only comedians can deliver.
