Surf School (2006)

In the heart of Laguna Beach High, the excitement of senior year crescendos with an anticipated surf safari to Costa Rica for the unprecedented High School Surfing Championship. Yet, a unique band of five seniors, misfits in their surf-obsessed environment, find themselves shunned from this rite of passage. Unfazed, they hatch an audacious underdog plan, determined to crash the surf-crazed festivities on their own terms. Their journey takes them to a quirky Costa Rican surf school, managed by a once-legendary but now jaded surf vagabond. Low on funds but high on spirit, they find unconventional lodging at a commune, home to a pair of 60's hippie fugitives, Boris and Tillie, who are still on the run from the FBI. Their adventure also collides with the tantalizing Three Swedes, a trio of Nordic sirens who delight in taunting American men. Add to this mix Veronique, a French chimp with a heart full of longing, and the stage is set for a rollicking teen comedy. Our heroes must tackle one paramount task - to learn to surf. In this Cinderella story set against the stunning backdrop of Costa Rica's surf paradise, there's much more than school pride at stake. Through a whirlwind of hi-jinx and surf culture, these outsiders might just outwit, outsurf and outshine their peers, surprising not only the surfing world but also themselves in the process. This is a tale of underdogs riding the waves of adversity, a celebration of the unexpected, and a testament to the unpredictable tide of high school life.
