Plot

In the heart of Rome, a sun-drenched Sunday blooms, beckoning the city dwellers towards Ostia's alluring shoreline. Among the sea-bound voyagers are a lively group of children, their bicycles gleaming under the Italian sun, and a boisterous family, their spirits as vibrant as the antiquated car they journey in. A melancholic widower escorts his daughter to a holiday camp, a decision imposed by his unyielding fiancée, their journey marked by the rhythmic cadence of a train. Meanwhile, Adriana, a woman torn from the arms of Roberto by the seductive allure of affluence, ventures forth in a luxurious car, accompanied by the enigmatic Donati. However, not all surrender to the sea's siren call. Back in the city, Hercules, a traffic policeman, grapples with the trials of impending fatherhood and the harsh realities of job loss. Roberto, left in the wake of Adriana's departure, spirals into a tumultuous world of unsavoury acquaintances and escalating troubles. As the languid Sunday in August unfolds, a tapestry of parallel tales - some tinged with melancholy, others bursting with joy - unravels against the backdrop of Rome. By the time nightfall shrouds the city, the tides of their lives will have shifted, heralding changes of profound significance.
