In the year 2013, Peter Williams, a once-respected History Professor at New York University, finds his career derailed due to his insatiable obsession with the enigma of the USS LIONFISH. This US Navy submarine was mysteriously sealed and locked to the dock in 1943, its tale becoming a specter that haunts the annals of war history. Peter's fixation on the LIONFISH's story is further fueled by his personal battles with alcoholism, leading to his forced resignation from Boston University. One fateful evening, a clandestine visit from a representative of the Department of the Navy heralds a turn of events. After years of relentless pursuit, Peter is granted permission to investigate the long-abandoned submarine. Assembling a team of fervent researchers and graduate students, which intriguingly includes his ex-wife, Peter embarks on a quest to peel back the layers of the LIONFISH's enigmatic past. Upon their arrival, they're the first to set foot on the submarine in over 80 years since the mysterious event that led to its sealing. However, their excitement quickly morphs into dread as they find themselves entrapped by the submarine, which springs to life as if possessed by the ghosts of its past. The team is thrust into a chilling journey across the abyss of time as the submarine ventures out to sea, plunging them into a fierce battle in 1943. They find themselves face to face with a German U-boat and under attack from their own US NAVY destroyer. As they grapple with the ferocious LIONFISH, Peter and his team are confronted with an unthinkable choice – to continue their fight against the submarine in order to survive or switch sides and join forces with the LIONFISH. With the fate of Peter, his team, the USS LIONFISH, and the very outcome of World War II teetering on the edge, Peter is forced to make a decision that could rewrite history and potentially alter the world's course forever. The enigma of the submarine's past and its vanished commander, Tony Sterling, unravels as they navigate this terrifying supernatural voyage, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.
