Stone of Destiny (2008)

In the heart of 1950's Glasgow, university student Ian, fueled by a potent blend of nationalism and youthful ambition, sets his sights on reclaiming a legendary symbol of Scottish pride - the Stone of Scone. This hallowed relic, a hefty 300-pound sandstone block that once served as the coronation seat for Scottish kings, was seized as a war trophy in 1296 and relocated to Westminster Abbey. Undeterred by the daunting task, Ian confides in his friend Billy and secures a humble sum from a local politician to kickstart his audacious mission. Together, they trek to London, meticulously studying the abbey and hatching a plot that would require courage, cunning, and a reliable getaway car. They enlist the help of two more conspirators - the strapping Gavin who will infiltrate the abbey after hours, and vigilant Kay who will serve as their watchful sentinel. With their team assembled, they set their daring heist for Christmas Eve, adding shy, spindly Alan to their ranks, whose crucial role lies in his dependable vehicle. As they venture towards England, they teeter on the precipice of a thrilling journey, uncertain if their fate lies in acclaim or incarceration. The cinematic rendition of the Stone of Destiny paints a vivid tableau of a true story about four audacious Glaswegian students in 1951, who dared to outwit the British authorities in an audacious attempt to return the Stone of Scone to its rightful home.
