Plot

In the heart of upper-class England, within the grand walls of Ivory Hall, resides twenty-two-year-old Emily (Georgina Cates), poised on the cusp of matrimony. Her brother, Edward (Samuel West), a well-intentioned albeit simple-minded aristocrat, conspires with their astute Aunt Agnes (Prunella Scales) to orchestrate a match between Emily and his pompous friend, Cedric Trilling (Robert Portal). However, Emily's heart is already ensnared by a different suitor - a man she refused on account of his excessively bushy eyebrows - local vicar Mr. Tweeb (Richard Braine). The tranquil monotony of Emily's life is disrupted when an unanticipated incident at the family lake draws her into the rugged embrace of George (Sean Pertwee), a strikingly handsome and muscular lower-class peasant. Their passion ignites instantly, fuelled by George's raw charm. Despite the glaring class disparity, Emily is irrevocably attracted to his beguiling masculinity. Recognizing the scandalous implications of this ill-suited romance, Aunt Agnes acts swiftly, whisking the family away on a grand tour, first to the sun-drenched landscapes of Italy and then to the exotic allure of India. Her intent is clear - to douse the fiery connection between Emily and George and to steer her towards the more socially acceptable Cedric. Unbeknownst to her, George follows them, assuming the role of a servant, unwilling to relinquish his love. Stiff Upper Lips (1998) is a whirlwind of love, lust, and class conflict, set against the backdrop of stunning international locales; a delightful dance between propriety and passion that promises to captivate audiences.
