Haley Graham, a one-time prodigy in the realm of gymnastics, now wears the badge of juvenile delinquent following a series of legal missteps. After one transgression too many, Haley finds herself banished to the highly prestigious VGA - Vickerman's Gymnastics Academy – a place she equates to a personal purgatory. The academy, stationed in the heart of Houston, Texas, is led by the legendary Olympic gymnast Burt Vickerman who sees in Haley a spark of the old fire. This defiant young woman is met with hostility at the VGA. Her fellow teenage gymnasts, still nursing old wounds, loathe her for her infamous exit from the Junior Olympic team, a move that cost them a coveted gold medal. Haley doesn't back down and stirs up trouble with her brazen attitude, her path strewn with soda-throwing foes, disgruntled ex-teammates, pushy parents, and an endless parade of uncomfortable leotards. Nevertheless, Vickerman, recognizing her potential, takes the rebellious Haley under his wing. He adopts an unconventional coaching style to help her resurrect her self-respect and prepare for the upcoming Gymnastic Nationals. Alongside her skater friends, Frank and Poot, Haley infuses the rigid world of gymnastics with her rock 'n' roll spirit and audacious routines.
