Station Jim (2001)

As the twilight of the 19th century descends, young Bob Gregson finds himself nestled in the charming, rustic world of railway station life. As a porter, Bob dreams of filling the stationmaster's shoes, whose imminent retirement whispers opportunity. But Bob's heart harbours more than ambition – he is smitten with Harriet Collins, a teacher and beacon of light in the local orphanage, which also happens to be Bob's former home. When Bob learns of the orphanage's impending doom by the hands of Mr Riorden, a local businessman with a knack for property deals, his world is tilted off its axis. However, fate intervenes in the form of a stray Jack Russell terrier discovered among the delivered goods at the station. A former circus star, "Station Jim," as the pup is affectionately named, quickly becomes a darling spectacle, charming passengers with his intelligent tricks and winning hearts, and more importantly, coins. A royal visit by Queen Victoria adds an unexpected twist to the tale. Could the beloved monarch be persuaded to become the orphanage's patron, forcing Mr Riorden to rethink his plans? However, the Queen's visit also paints a target for anti-royalist terrorists with a deadly plot. Unbeknownst to all, the would-be assassin is Station Jim's former circus owner, a fact that triggers the loyal dog's instincts. As the suspense mounts, it's up to the station's furry hero to sniff out the danger and save the day, proving that even the smallest hearts can make the biggest difference.
