Standby (2014)

In the throes of his mid-twenties, Alan (Gleeson) is grappling with a string of misfortunes. Abandoned at the altar and freshly ousted from his banking career, he finds himself sharing his mother's role as a part-time tourist advisor at the bustling Dublin Airport. Amid the ebb and flow of travelers, he unexpectedly locks eyes with Alice (Paré), his long-lost first love, languishing on standby for a flight back to her life in New York. Their once fiery summer romance, which concluded eight years prior with a broken promise by Alan to rejoin Alice in the States, has since turned into a silent stalemate. Spotting an opportunity, Alan persuades a hesitant Alice to spend one more night soaking up the charm of Dublin. As the evening unfurls, they explore old haunts and new experiences, and a spark of realization may ignite between them - they could still be perfect for each other. However, the hands of time are against them. Their fleeting reunion is a ticking clock, and they must decide if this unexpected rendezvous is the second chance they've been yearning for. Will it be an evanescent moment, or the beginning of a story they were destined to complete?
