Plot

Welcome to Space Station 76, an orbiting refueling satellite home to a motley crew of space voyagers. This familiar yet alien reality, reminiscent of Earth circa 1976, is the backdrop for a tale of humanity, isolation, and the quest for connection. Our protagonist, Jessica, steps onboard as the new first mate, her arrival stirring the calm of the station like a pebble in a placid pond. As she navigates her way through the unpredictability of human relationships, Jessica finds herself lost amidst the crew's labyrinth of personal crises, their struggles amplified by the infinite emptiness of space. Beneath the friendly veneer of her new colleagues lies a simmering pot of loneliness, depression, drug abuse, and infidelity. Each crew member battles their own personal asteroid field: Captain Glenn, a stoic figure hiding secrets behind his curt demeanor; Ted, a lonely mechanic yearning for his medicated, detached wife, Misty; Sunshine, their seven-year-old daughter, grappling with her mother's mental illness and her own sense of isolation. Jessica, despite her earnest attempts, finds herself unable to forge meaningful connections in this tangled web of strained relationships, further deepening her loneliness. The people aboard the Space Station 76 are like drifting asteroids, their volatile lives colliding and sparking chain reactions of drama. Tensions reach a fever pitch during a Christmas party, where Misty, spiraling into madness, insists on a game of brutal honesty. The "Truth Game" reveals raw secrets and hidden resentments, threatening to shatter the fragile peace aboard the station. Yet, in the midst of chaos and crisis, a celestial event jolts the crew out of their personal turmoil. This cosmic spectacle serves as a profound reminder of their shared humanity and the true priorities in their lives. Amidst the infinite expanse of space, they are forced to confront the truth: that they are all they have, and connection, however elusive, is their only salvation.
