Plot

In the heart of the bustling racing world, Roy Rogers, owner of a specialized transportation service for racehorses, gears up to escort a cavalcade of thoroughbreds to the anticipated Pan American fair races in Monterey. Among these prized steeds is "Dancing Girl," a magnificent mare owned by Doris Stewart, a ranch owner on the brink of financial ruin. To keep her beloved ranch afloat, Doris is compelled to sell her equine gem. Alongside her trusted yet devious trainer, Dave Norris, she embarks on a perilous journey with Roy to the teeming border town of Caliente. Just before crossing the threshold, they encounter Rosina, a young gypsy fortune teller with an ominous plea for Roy to abandon the trip. Undeterred, Roy leads the party across the border, only to be ambushed by masked marauders who not only steal the horses but also leave a stable boy dead in their wake. Teaming up with Doris, his sidekick Pinky, and a Mexican Commandante, Roy ventures into the gypsy camp in search of Rosina, only to stumble upon a grim scene - the stolen thoroughbreds hidden amidst a wild herd, and a lifeless horse, seemingly "Dancing Girl," that spells doom for Doris's ranch. Unbeknownst to Doris, the wheels of betrayal have been set in motion by Norris and his unscrupulous partner, "Studsy" Denning, who have masterminded a sinister plot involving a horse double to steal "Dancing Girl" and seize Doris's ranch. As the web of deceit unravels, Roy finds himself in a race against time to save not just "Dancing Girl," but also the future of Doris's ranch. The stakes are high, the danger is real, and in the world 'South of Caliente,' trust is a currency harder to hold onto than a bucking bronco.
