In a time where unity was a rarity, a young Surinamese man, Waldemar, crosses paths with Rika, a Dutch woman seasoned by life and love. Their connection is immediate, profound, and seemingly impossible; black meets white, youth intertwines with experience, and a gap of seventeen years is bridged in the heart of pre-WWII Netherlands. Rika, a mother of four from a previous relationship, finds herself pregnant with Waldemar's child.
