Plot

Teetering on the precipice of a psychological breakdown, Maxwell (Richard Hollman) stumbles upon an unexpected revelation. His family lawyer (Arian Moayed) unveils that he has inherited a sanctuary for sloths from his late father. This inheritance, however, is more than just an estate; it's a gateway to a surreal world where Maxwell encounters a loquacious sloth (voiced by Jack McBrayer) in his dreams. This peculiar nocturnal visitor ignites a dormant passion within Maxwell - a burning desire to protect the sanctuary and the creatures residing within it. In his waking life, Maxwell's newfound obsession pushes him to revisit his first love - music. The harmony of melodies and chords becomes his chosen weapon to safeguard the sloth habitat. But this mission isn't a solo performance. He needs to conduct an unlikely ensemble, comprising his lethargic brother (Brian McCarthy) and self-absorbed sister (Ava Eisenson), to orchestrate his plan into action. "Songs for a Sloth" is a cinematic symphony that explores the complex duel between personal desires and familial responsibilities. It's a testament to the timeless truth that it's never too late to chase one's dreams, to compose the melody of one's own life. The film paints a vibrant picture of modern life, weaving in elements of live video games, hidden art, viral videos, social media influence, adrenaline-filled paintball matches, elegant banquets, and the buzzing hum of drones. It's a narrative that harmoniously blends the ordinary with the extraordinary, the real with the surreal, and the mundane with the magical, creating an unforgettable cinematic experience.
