Smoke Signal (1955)

In the unforgiving expanse of the New Mexico Territory in 1852, a troop of fresh-faced cavalry replacements ventures into their new post along the Colorado River. Their arrival is met with a shocking sight; their fort is under siege by Ute Indians. Only a handful of the original inhabitants survives the onslaught, including the valiant yet stubborn Lieutenant Wayne Ford (Rex Reason), the daring prisoner and Army defector Brett Halliday (Dana Andrews), and the late commanding officer's brave daughter, Laura Evans (Piper Laurie).
