Shock Corridor (1963)

In the gritty corridors of a mental asylum, a murder mystery lies unsolved, a tantalizing puzzle that ambitious journalist Johnny Barrett of the Daily Globe seeks to piece together. His insatiable drive to win the Pulitzer Prize propels him to delve into the enigma of inmate Slone's murder, a savage act committed in the asylum's kitchen and witnessed only by three mentally unstable interns. Guided by the astute psychiatrist Dr. Fong and backed by his boss, Swanson, Johnny hatches a daring plan. Despite the vehement objections of his stripper girlfriend Cathy, he feigns insanity, painting a disturbing picture of incestuous desire. This risky ruse earns him a ticket to the heart of the asylum, a place where sanity is a rare commodity and truth hides in the shadows. But as Johnny plunges deeper into the abyss of insanity, he begins to realize the steep price he must pay for his pursuit of glory. Struggling to maintain his sanity amidst the chaos, he discovers that the asylum's unsettling reality may be far stranger than anyone could have imagined.
