Plot

In the heart of 1970's Maharashtra, nestled within a quaint village, four inseparable friends - Chitry, Favdya, Surya, and Joshi - navigate the intricate maze of adolescence. Together, they study in a simple, rustic school, their youthful spirits untouched by the harsh political tensions of the Emergency gripping India. Amid the daily ebb and flow of school life, their humble hangout, the beloved adda, becomes a sanctuary where they ponder the mysteries of growing up. The tranquil rhythm of their lives takes a compelling turn when a captivating girl, Shirodkar, steps into their school. Her radiant beauty stirs a flurry of emotions amongst the boys, but it's Joshi who finds himself irresistibly drawn to her. His heart throbs with a silent love, one that he follows fervently every day, trailing her steps until her doorstep and opting for the same tuition classes, all in a bid to capture her fleeting glances. Yet, despite his persistent efforts, Joshi finds himself caught in a youthful quandary, struggling to bridge the chasm between his feelings and the words needed to express them. As the academic year flutters by, the boys remain blissfully unaware of the unforeseen twists and turns that are set to overhaul their lives, testing their friendships and their nascent understanding of love. Shala is a poignant narrative of teenage dreams and desires, nestled amidst a time of political unrest, underscoring the innocence and resilience of youth.
