Shadow Builder (1998)

In the sinister underbelly of the Catholic Church, an evil Archbishop orchestrates the summoning of a malevolent entity known as Shadowbuilder, using an image of Vic Lambert's delinquent son as the conduit. The ritual is disrupted by the intrepid Father Vassey, who eliminates the Archbishop's followers, but the cunning Shadowbuilder slips away, setting its sights on the quaint town of Grand River, a place soon to be shrouded by an eclipse. In this unsuspecting town, Father Vassey learns that the demon's true quarry is Chris Hatcher, a peculiar boy, raised by his aunt Jenny, who manifested a divine stigmata during his baptism. The demon's arrival plunges Grand River into a whirlpool of chaos, as Shadowbuilder wreaks havoc, feeding on the town's despair and amassing formidable power. Meanwhile, the town's stalwart Sheriff Sam Logan, who harbors tender feelings for Jenny, allies with Father Vassey in a desperate bid to safeguard Chris and obliterate the burgeoning threat. As the demon engulfs the town, turning its denizens against one another and tightening its grip on its innocent prey, this unlikely duo must race against time to thwart the demon's apocalyptic plan and save their world from impending doom.
