Plot

In a world where the unknown lurks beyond the skies, a covert military organization known as S.H.A.D.O. (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organization) emerges from the depths of the Harlington-Straker film studio in London. Established in 1980, this clandestine defense force wages a silent war against an enigmatic alien race, who, in their insatiable hunger for body parts, ruthlessly kidnap and kill both humans and animals. The Earth under siege, S.H.A.D.O., led by the stern General James Henderson and the resolute Commander Ed Straker, operates from multiple fronts. From their secret hub beneath a bustling film studio to a moonbase, rechristened as 'Moonbase Alpha,' the team is ever vigilant. This dedicated cadre of highly trained individuals is armed with an arsenal of Interceptors, an early warning satellite named S.I.D., and a fleet of submarines, all standing as the first line of defense against the incoming hostile UFOs. However, there's a twist in the cosmic tale. As the idea of revamping Gerry Anderson's UFO series falls through, a catastrophic explosion from nuclear waste dumps catapults the moon out of its orbit, hurling it across the galaxy. Suddenly, the battle-hardened team at Moonbase Alpha, including the undaunted Commander John Koenig (Martin Landau), the brilliant Dr. Helena Russell (Barbara Bain), and the wise Prof. Victor Bergman (Barry Morse), find themselves adrift in space, far from the Earth they swore to protect. From the creators of UFO and before Space: 1999, Shado (1974) weaves a riveting tale of humanity's struggle against an unseen enemy. The film, a compilation of the first few episodes of the intended series reboot, stands as a testament to the technological advancements of its era, echoing the pioneering spirit of classics like Star Wars and Star Trek. Despite the demise of the UFO reboot dream, Shado (1974) offers a thrilling journey into the heart of human resilience, where hope shines even in the darkest corners of the galaxy.
