In the desolate expanse of California's Mojave Desert, 1998, a peculiar radiance pierces the sky, casting an eerie glow on the barren landscape. We follow the journey of Sam, a door-to-door salesman in his forties, navigating the seemingly deserted territories in a futile search for clients. An unsettling silence dominates his world as his wife's voice eludes his desperate phone calls, and the rest of civilization appears to evade him, amplifying his isolation.
Sam's lifeline to the outside world is a dilapidated car and a local radio station; when the former breaks down, he is held captive by the hostile emptiness around him. His sole human connection becomes the eccentric radio host, Eddy. Through the static of the airwaves, Eddy and his listeners obsess over a child killer on the loose, their thoughts as relentless as the desert sun.
The uncanny tranquillity of Sam's existence shatters when his pager begins to buzz with ominous threats. As if emerging from the desert mirages, people start materializing, their intentions murderous. Sam finds himself in the crosshairs, defenseless and alone. As the threats escalate, he spirals into a paranoid identity crisis, blurring the line between the hunted and the hunter. Is Sam the killer that everyone is searching for, or is he becoming a victim of a terrifying psychological game?
