Plot

The Sicilian landscape, in 1950, is marred by the chilling sight of outlaw Salvatore Giuliano, a mere 28 years old, lifeless in a courtyard. The enigmatic tale of this notorious outlaw is painted in shades of deceit and ambiguity. The film weaves a complex tapestry, oscillating between the twilight of the 1940s when Giuliano, along with his band of rogues, was enlisted by separatist leaders to wage their battles, and the ominous days that bookmark Giuliano's demise. As Sicily revels in its newfound sovereignty, the promise of amnesty for the outlaws hangs heavy in the air. Yet, the inexplicable order from Giuliano to his gang to disrupt a tranquil May Day gathering casts a long shadow. The intricate interplay between the Police, the Carabinieri, and the Mafia unfolds as they find their motives intertwined with Giuliano's notorious reign. Following his death, a trial ensues. Will it tear away the veil of lies, unearthing the truth of Giuliano's actions, or will the powerful code of silence safeguard the interests of those in authority? Salvatore Giuliano is a labyrinth of half-truths and hidden agendas, where the search for truth becomes as elusive as the man himself.
