Plot

In the year 1999, in a quirky Negev town, we find Clara, a 13-year-old Russian emigre ensconced in a trailer on the fringes of the town. This enchanting adolescent, crowned with an uncanny ability to predict the future and telekinetic powers, is the magnetic center of a kaleidoscope of eccentric characters and intertwining sub-plots. Among these are a host of peculiar Russian denizens, played by the talented actors of Israel's Gesher Theatre Troupe, who add a vibrant dash of color to this beguiling tableau. The narrative threads together the lives of those in Clara's orbit, including an infatuated classmate from Golda Meir High School, a rebel with a heart of gold who may just crack the veneer of Clara's heart, and in doing so, threaten her extraordinary abilities. The story also delves into the lives of their respective families, weaving a complex tapestry of human relation and emotion. Adding to the peculiar charm is the inexplicably francophone school principal, a character whose persistent use of French adds a surreal tinge to Clara's already extraordinary world. At its core, "Saint Clara" is a mystical journey of love, power, and destiny, that captivates with its rich characters and captivating sub-plots. As we navigate through these diverse narratives, we're left in constant wonder - will Clara's powers sustain in the face of blooming love, or will she become a mere mortal, surrendering her mystique to the throes of adolescent emotion?
