Plot

In the untouched wilderness of Oregon, circa 1861, Sacred Ground paints the poignant, fact-based tale of a rugged mountain man and his Native American wife who, oblivious to the spiritual significance of the land, craft their home from a half-completed cabin nestled atop a sacred Paiute burial ground. Their domestic tranquility is shattered when this unintentional desecration ignites a violent dispute with the local tribe, culminating in a tragic skirmish that leaves the wife mortally injured, her life ebbing away amidst the tumult of childbirth. Haunted by loss, the widower is driven to desperate measures to secure a wetnurse for his newborn, resulting in his audacious abduction of a grieving Paiute woman who herself has recently lost a child. This daring act triggers a series of events reminiscent of the ancient Helen of Troy saga, with the mountain man now pitted against the wrathful Paiute tribe in a fierce struggle for survival. Sacred Ground unveils an emotional narrative of love, loss, and desperation, set against the backdrop of a cultural clash on the boundary of the old world and the new. The unforgiving wilderness becomes a battleground where resilience and determination face off against tradition and spiritual reverence, leaving viewers entranced by the human capacity for survival amidst the most desperate circumstances.
