Plot

In the shadowy underbelly of Melbourne, a storm of anger and prejudice brews, embodied by a vicious gang of white supremacist skinheads. Led by the relentless Hando, they prowl the streets, their wrath reserved for those who don't align with their distorted ideals. Their primary target: the local Vietnamese populace, whom they perceive as a threat to racial purity. Their brutal reign of terror escalates when they assault two young Vietnamese men, marking their second attack in mere days. However, the tides start to shift as the Vietnamese community, tired of living in fear, decides to fight back. An explosive confrontation ensues, leaving the skinheads on the backfoot and the city’s streets echoing with the cries of rebellion. Amid the chaos, Hando, his loyal sidekick Davey, and a mysterious woman prone to epileptic seizures, find themselves the last remnants of their battered gang. Now fugitives, they begin a desperate run from the law and an enraged mob seeking justice. But the woman's affliction raises questions about her place within the gang, her seizures considered a potential sign of 'impurity.' As the trio navigates the treacherous path of survival, a deep-seated schism emerges between Hando and Davey, leading to a violent clash of principles. Romper Stomper (1992) spins a harrowing tale of hate, refuge, and the dangerous allure of supremacy, leaving audiences to question the true price of 'purity.'
