Plot

In the aftermath of twenty years since the legendary feats of Robin Hood against Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham, our gallant hero, portrayed by Sir Sean Connery, finds himself worlds away from the familiar green canopies of Sherwood Forest. Having traded his English roots for battlefields afar, Robin has been fighting valiantly as the right-hand man to Richard the Lionheart in the bloody Crusades and across France. His only tether to his once idyllic existence in Sherwood is his unwavering companion, Little John, played by Nicol Williamson. However, with the death of Richard the Lionheart, a weary and battle-scarred Robin feels the pull of his homeland and makes the decision to return to England. His heart yearns to rekindle the embers of his relationship with Maid Marian, embodied by the timeless Audrey Hepburn, who now leads a life of religious devotion as an abbess at a nearby priory. As Robin steps foot on English soil again, he is met with a tumultuous welcome from his old comrades Friar Tuck and Will Scarlett, who inform him of Maid Marian's new life. Marian greets Robin with a whirlwind of emotions, her feelings a blend of trepidation and joy. Yet, when the ruthless Sheriff of Nottingham, Robin's old adversary played by Robert Shaw, attempts to apprehend her on concocted religious offences, Robin swiftly comes to her rescue. Amidst the chaos, the spark between Robin and Marian re-ignites, leading them back into a passionate entanglement. But the haven of Robin's dreams is not as peaceful as he imagined. He didn't anticipate the cunning schemes of the Sheriff of Nottingham and the power-hungry King John, portrayed by Sir Ian Holm. This intriguing tragicomedy/adventure film throws Robin back into a world of danger and deception, testing his courage and love in ways he hadn't foreseen. Robin and Marian is a tale that weaves an intricate dance of love and heroism, set against the backdrop of a world weary from war and longing for peace.
