In the colourful tapestry of Indian life, restless Vishnu yearns for escape from his father's failing hair oil venture. His salvation arrives in the form of an age-worn 1942 Chevy truck, which is more than just a vehicle - it's an antique mobile cinema. Agreeing to journey the truck across the scorched desert to its final resting place at a local museum, Vishnu unknowingly embarks on an odyssey of self-discovery and transformation. Along the barren landscape, Vishnu's solitary journey becomes a shared expedition as he picks up an unlikely trio of companions: a runaway boy from a local Dhabha, a seasoned old entertainer, and a captivating gypsy woman. Together, they traverse the inhospitable terrain, their shared quest for water and a mythical fair uniting them amidst the emptiness. Their voyage takes a perilous turn when they cross paths with corrupt law enforcers and a feared water overlord. The key to their survival lies in the rusty bowels of the truck: an eccentric collection of films and two vintage film projectors. Like a modern-day spin on 1001 Nights, their lives hang in the balance of cinematic appeal - captivating films buy them another day of life, while dull ones might spell their doom in the harsh wilderness. Throughout this road trip, the vibrant world of the Indian highway unfurls before Vishnu, unravelling life, love, and laughter in its rawest form. Obliged to set up their own fair and ensnared by water bandits, Vishnu and his companions face trials that test their mettle and spirit. Yet, in the midst of adversity, they find transformation, each in their unique way, but most notably Vishnu, whose journey began as an escape but turned into a voyage towards self-discovery and freedom.
