Ring (1998)

Rumors persist of a cursed video tape that causes people to die exactly one week after watching it. Reporter Reiko saw her cousin die potentially as a result of seeing the tape, and she sets out to investigate the curse. But as she digs deeper, she discovers a trail of bodies and a tape that might be the cursed object. After watching it, she's largely convinced of the curse, and her investigation takes on newly personal stakes. If Reiko can't find a way to break the curse, she'll be killed by the same relentless creature that's killed countless people before her.
