Remainder (2015)

In the chaos of an uncanny accident, an object plummets from the sky, a large black box striking an unnamed man, plunging him into a coma. He reawakens to a life blurred by amnesia, his past a nebulous void. His only anchor to reality is a wisp of a memory - a small boy reaching out from the top of a stairwell in a dated house, an old lady below him in the shadows. Along with this fragmented image, he finds himself endowed with £8.5 million, a compensation for his unfortunate ordeal. Driven by a desperate longing to piece together his past, he uses his newfound fortune not for luxury, but to transform his enigmatic memory into a tangible reality. He procures a block of apartments, filling it with actors meticulously chosen to recreate the haunting scene, over and over, in a relentless pursuit of clarity. As time passes, the man's endeavors escalate in extravagance and complexity, the edges of his reality blurring with the scenes he orchestrates. Fragments of other memories begin to surface, each one pulling him deeper into the labyrinth of his own mind. His desperation to reclaim his identity grows, pushing him towards increasingly precarious reenactments. An unsolved crime emerges from the depths of his forgotten past, hinting at a dark secret that may hold the key to his undoing.
