Reign of Assassins (2010)

In the heart of the Ming Dynasty, an assassin named Zeng Jing, formerly known as Xi Yu, finds herself entwined in a perilous tapestry of power and mysticism. Legend whispers of the potent healing abilities locked within the remains of an Indian Buddhist monk, a secret that could tip the balance of power, or bring destruction if fallen into the wrong hands. As the formidable leader of the Dark Stone gang, Cao Feng, learns that these coveted remains are partly held by Prime Minister Zhang, he unleashes a lethal squad of assassins to seize control. In the ensuing chaos, the skilled Xi Yu absconds with the remains, taking the life of Zhang's son Renfeng in the process. Haunted by her deeds and seeking redemption, Xi Yu encounters the wise monk Wisdom who warns her of four fatal flaws in her swordsmanship. Fearing the inevitable confrontation with her former mentor Cao Feng, she seeks a fresh start. Her path leads her to the gifted plastic surgeon Dr. Li, who alters her appearance, allowing her to slip into the simple life of a merchant in a serene village under the new identity of Zeng Jing. In this tranquil haven, she marries the unassuming Jiang A-sheng, hoping to bury her violent past. However, destiny has a different plan. When a local bank robbery threatens her peaceful life, she's compelled to reveal her deadly skills, attracting Cao Feng's attention once more. Now, Zeng Jing and her beloved husband are in the crosshairs of Cao Feng's three deadliest assassins - Lei Bin, Lian Sheng, and Ye Zhanqing, in a deadly pursuit for the monk's remains. With the threat looming, Zeng Jing must confront her bloody past and protect the future she's built, while undertaking a journey to return the monk's remains to their rightful resting place. Will she overcome her flaws, or will the reign of assassins claim her life?
