Red Sun (1971)

In the rugged heart of the American west, circa 1870, a motley crew of outlaws led by the hardened bandit, Link Stuart, and his slick French sidekick Gauche, hold a train hostage. Among the precious loot they ransack from the terrified passengers is an unexpected prize—the ceremonial Japanese sword of the traveling Ambassador, a gift destined for President Ulysses S. Grant. However, in the thick of their chaotic escape, Gauche betrays Link, leaving him for dead and seizing the spoils for himself. This unprecedented treachery sparks a fiery alliance between the presumed-dead Stuart and the Ambassador's samurai bodyguard, Kuroda Jubie, both equally consumed by a burning desire for vengeance against Gauche. Their quests, though united by a common enemy, are woven from different threads. Link, driven by the allure of riches and retribution, seeks information on the whereabouts of the stolen loot, while Kuroda, bound by the strict code of samurai honor, thirsts to reclaim the ceremonial sword and kill Gauche, fearing that failure would condemn him to the ritualistic suicide of harakiri. Despite Kuroda's formidable prowess, he's a fish out of water in the savage landscape of the west and therefore, relies on Link's intimate knowledge of Gauche and the region to track him down. The key to their hunt might lie in the hands of Cristina, Gauche's enchanting mistress. As they traverse the arid plains, overcoming their differences and braving the natural and human threats lurking in the shadows, Link and Kuroda find themselves in a relentless chase against time, danger, and perhaps, even fate itself. The pursuit of Gauche and the stolen treasures takes them on a wild ride through a land where honor, betrayal, and survival are as unpredictable as the setting sun.
