Reclaim (2014)

In the heart of sun-drenched Puerto Rico, Chicago-based artists, Steven and Shannon, seek the warmth of parenthood as they prepare to adopt Nina, a child orphaned by the catastrophic Haiti earthquake. As they begin to foster precious bonds in the sanctuary of their hotel resort, their joy is tainted by the haunting specter of a past car accident that left Shannon infertile. Their tranquility is further disrupted by the intrusive presence of their unsettling neighbors, led by the enigmatic Benjamin, an NGO veteran with a mysterious agenda, and his belligerent henchman Salo. Their unnerving behavior culminates in a bizarre bar brawl, where an apparently inebriated Steven becomes a target. Suddenly, their world crumbles when Nina vanishes without a trace, and the local San Juan police superintendent unveils a chilling truth: they are victims of a fraudulent adoption agency's cruel scam. But Benjamin, the puppet master, has a more sinister chapter yet to unfold. Thrust into a deadly underground web of deceit and corruption, Steven and Shannon must navigate this foreign terrain, risking everything to expose the truth and reclaim their daughter. Their desperate journey back to the U.S. becomes a race against time, a fight for survival, and a testament to the unyielding power of parental love.
