Tired and creatively stuck, an American poetess decides to get away from it all and head to Brazil for some much needed rest and relaxation. There, she meets an architect and begins a passionate, though, ultimately, tragic love affair. Based on the real life relationship between American poetess Elizabeth Bishop and Brazilian architect Lota de Macedo Soares.
