Plot

In the grimy heart of a sprawling city dump, a physically deformed teenager lives in self-imposed isolation. His countenance, disturbingly reminiscent of a rodent's snout, lends him the unofficial title of 'Ratboy'. His silent world is shattered when two rough-hewn rednecks stumble upon his hideaway, abducting him with the intention of turning his misfortune into their fortune. As the news of 'Ratboy' reaches the city's underbelly, a seemingly sympathetic Nikki, a fired window dresser masquerading as a journalist, steps into the picture. With her ulterior motives cloaked behind her concern, she manages to free Ratboy from his captors, bringing him into her world, a dilapidated flat she shares with her two lackluster brothers. As Nikki and her brothers hatch plans to exploit Ratboy's unique appearance for their own gain, Ratboy's fragile emotional state begins to crumble under the weight of their intentions. His agitation and melancholy become increasingly palpable, making him an even more pitiable figure. Yet, amidst the scheming and manipulation, Ratboy becomes an unlikely beacon of innocence and vulnerability in a world fixated on exploitation and greed. This tale of misplaced ambition and unrecognized humanity is a compelling exploration of society's darker corners and the lengths people will go to for personal gain.
