Pursued (1947)

In the tumultuous 1880s, young Jeb Rand (Robert Mitchum) finds himself an orphan, his family mercilessly slaughtered, leaving him with nothing but a recurring nightmare of flashing spurs and a chilling confinement. He finds an unexpected refuge in the nearby Callum family ranch, where he is embraced by the stern but loving Widow Callum (Dame Judith Anderson) and her children, Thor (Teresa Wright) and Adam (John Rodney).
