Plot
Amidst the gritty backdrop of Amsterdam's projects, the narrative of Prince unfolds, tracing the story of a mid-teen Ayoub, protective of his half-sister Demi. Their mother, Saskia, a solitary divorcee, grapples with the loneliness of their existence, while Ayoub harbors fears of resembling his absentee, junkie father, Mo. Ayoub seeks solace in the company of his neighborhood friends, engaging in youthful mischief, including explosive escapades with garbage containers.
But the winds of adolescence are blowing, and Ayoub finds himself entangled in the intoxicating allure of Laura, a girl from the projects. Despite Laura's disinterest and her relationship with Ronnie, a local thug and the brother of Ayoub's friend, Franky, Ayoub's infatuation remains unquenched. He believes the key to winning Laura's heart is to transform into the tough guy he assumes she desires.
A chance encounter with the flamboyant local criminal, Kalpa, and his ostentatious purple Lamborghini offers Ayoub the opportunity to metamorphose. Kalpa, an embodiment of eccentricity and volatility, hires Ayoub for odd jobs, pushing him towards a path he never envisioned. Ayoub soon finds himself at the crossroads, questioning his true nature and the lengths he is willing to go, all for the sake of impressing a girl. His journey of self-discovery, love and adolescence forms the heart of Prince, offering a poignant tale of transformation against a backdrop of urban chaos.
