Plot

Trapped in the intoxicating whirlwind of Hollywood's glimmering lights, we meet Suzanne Vale, a luminous actress grappling with the chains of substance addiction. An overdose that lands her in the hospital becomes a wake-up call, catapulting her into the harsh realities of detoxification and rehabilitation. As Suzanne emerges from the shadows of her dark ordeal, she finds a lifeline in a role in a modest-budget film. However, the film company, keen on safeguarding their investment, mandates a curious condition - Suzanne must live under the same roof as her mother, Doris Mann. Doris is a faded Hollywood starlet, once radiant under the limelight, now a champion drinker living vicariously through old memories. Suzanne's new living arrangement becomes a daunting ordeal, as she finds herself ensnared in the shadow of her mother, who still perceives her as an impressionable child. The struggle to break free from Doris's overbearing presence and establish her identity is fraught with challenges, not least of which include navigating the complex terrain of relationships with the men in her life. Yet, amidst the chaos, Suzanne starts to perceive the ironic hilarity of her predicament. The realization dawns on her that the intricate relationship between mothers and daughters is a two-way street, offering her a fresh perspective on her life. The plot unfolds as a compelling exploration of familial bonds, self-discovery, and the relentless quest for sobriety, set against the glamorous yet unforgiving backdrop of Hollywood's star-studded universe.
