Jack (Roddy Piper), a humble building superintendent, seeks solace in simplicity. He craves the tranquillity of a good book, a refuge from the incessant demands of the tenants residing in his beloved brownstone building. Repairs and replacements, even the occasional unblocking of a troublesome toilet, are all part of Jack's everyday routine. But beneath the mundane, a monstrous force stirs. When the building plunges into darkness, it's not due to a blown fuse or faulty wiring. Instead, the eerie gloom reveals a chilling truth. Two unsuspecting tenants have unwittingly opened a portal to hell in the basement, a gateway for the ancient deity, Great Cthulhu, to rise from his submerged tomb city. Caught between a world he knows and an impending supernatural apocalypse, Jack finds an unlikely ally in a middle-aged divorcee, recently moved into the building. Alongside a motley crew of tenants, they forge a daring plan. They must close the portal and prevent Cthulhu, the looming menace threatening to become the ruler and overlord of the Earth. What began as a simple man's quest for peace turns into a battle against malevolent forces. The fate of their building, and indeed the world itself, hangs in the balance. Will Jack and his ragtag team succeed, or will they witness the world spiral into a hellish abyss? The answer lies within the shadowy confines of the building's basement, where the portal to hell awaits.
