Poopdeck Pappy (1940)

In the heart of the night, Popeye's nonagenarian father, Pappy, yearns for nocturnal escapades, against his son's pleas for a peaceful slumber. Despite Popeye's attempts to restrain his father with leg irons, Pappy proves to be a cunning trickster, reversing the bonds onto his son and embarking on a secret adventure to a disreputable bar. In the dim, smoke-filled establishment, Pappy stirs chaos, dancing in the arms of other men's sweethearts, bumping into the crowd, and flinging his dance partner into the unsuspecting band. The bar's patrons find their patience running thin, and a queue forms with the sole aim of taking Pappy to task. Just in time, Popeye, powered by his trusty spinach, storms into the bar, restoring order amidst the chaos. With Pappy in tow, Popeye returns to their ship, securing his father into his hammock with a hogtie. But the night is young, and Pappy's spirit is undeterred. As the lights dim, Popeye finds himself ensnared in a net while Pappy, once again, slips into the night, leaving behind an echo of his infectious laughter.
