Pom Poko (1994)

This is a fantasy thriller that takes place in Japan. Urban sprawl is taking over the landscape and some native animals are losing their habitat. They realize their species is on the verge of extinction, and stop their infighting over food and space to join forces to fight back. They plan to sabotage the building plans and frighten mankind away, but it isn’t as easy to do as they hoped. They need to call on their superpowers of changing their shapes, but it takes time to learn and some don’t want to wait. They start planning for war against the humans.
