Plot

In the heart of a small town, the world of widow Hattie Burns is rocked when a stray bullet from a local speakeasy's gangland brawl tragically claims the life of her friend's daughter. Infuriated and seeking justice, Hattie confronts the town's mayor, a slick political operator seeking re-election, demanding the closure of these illicit establishments. However, her cries are dismissed with the flick of a wrist, seen as nothing more than the protests of a woman. This dismissive attitude sparks an unforeseen political revolution. Hattie is thrust into the political arena as a rival candidate, with her best friend Ivy at her side as her campaign manager. The women of the town rally, launching a Lysistrata-inspired strike, swapping their parlors, bedrooms, and baths for picket signs to secure Hattie's victory. However, unbeknownst to Hattie, her campaign is shadowed by a hidden danger. Her daughter Myrtle's boyfriend, a wounded ex-gangster seeking sanctuary, is concealed in her attic. As Hattie's political journey unfolds, this clandestine presence threatens to unravel the threads of her newfound power. A vibrant tale of politics, empowerment, and hidden secrets, "Politics" weaves a captivating narrative that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
