A chilling ten years after the brutal murder of her mother, Riley Canterbury finds herself drawn back into the eerie folds of her past when her estranged, carnival-owning father, Ethan, vanishes. Leaving behind her shabby existence in a worn-out Los Angeles apartment, she returns to the rustic New England farm of her upbringing, where an uncanny undercurrent of sinisterness seems to have seeped into every corner. Reconnecting with Eric, a childhood sweetheart, and her Uncle Jacob - the farm's current inhabitant along with Jonathan, a scholar delving into the Canterbury Carnival's history, and six peculiar carnival performers preparing for their next journey - Riley attempts to familiarize herself with the eerily altered atmosphere of her childhood haven. The enigmatic and brusque Detective Damian arrives, weaving a web of unsettling revelations around Ethan's disappearance that hint at a darkness lurking beneath the carnival's lively facade. Concurrently, Jonathan, consumed by his research, presents Eric with a spine-chilling theory of occult influences haunting the carnival's history. As fanciful as the connection between the occult and Ethan's disappearance may seem, the line between skepticism and fear blurs when nightmarish dreams begin to invade the minds of Eric, Jonathan, and Riley. Their reality gradually transforms into a chilling spectacle as the enigmatic carnival performers are implicated in a ritual sacrifice, establishing a terrifying link between the carnival and the supernatural. The puzzle pieces of Ethan's disappearance and the sinister motives behind the ritualistic practices slowly start to interlock, culminating in a bloodcurdling showdown under the haunting glow of a moonlit night, right where the sinister tale originated: the Canterbury farm.
