Plot

Party Monster (2003) is a potent cocktail of fame, addiction, and crime, served against the electrifying backdrop of the New York club scene from the late 1980s to the 1990s. The narrative centers around the meteoric rise and devastating fall of Michael Alig, a small-town boy from Indiana who transforms into an underground icon in the city that never sleeps. Alig's uncanny knack for party organization propels him to legendary status in the club world, where his excessive drug use and audacious behavior become as infamous as the unforgettable parties he throws. At the zenith of his fame, Alig commands his own record label and magazine while hosting Disco 2000, one of the most celebrated club nights in New York in the '90s. However, as the parties grow darker and more twisted, it becomes clear that Alig's life is spiraling out of control, fueled by a worsening drug addiction. The tale takes a chilling turn when Alig, intoxicated by the power he wields, murders his friend, roommate, and drug dealer, Angel Melendez. What's more, he boasts about the brutal crime on television, believing his status makes him untouchable. Initially, the press dismisses his shocking confession as a publicity stunt, until the grim reality surfaces with Angel's body washing ashore in the East River. Party Monster (2003) is a riveting exploration of the intoxicating allure of fame and the corrosive effects of unchecked power. It's a cautionary tale of a life derailed by addiction, set to the pulsating rhythm of New York's unforgettable club scene.
