Plot

In the bohemian underbelly of Paris, 1957, Anne Goupil, an aspiring literature student, finds herself ensnared in a web of mystery and intrigue. Her elder brother, Pierre, introduces her to a unique crowd at a friend's gathering, including Philip Kaufman, an American fugitive seeking refuge from McCarthyism, and Gerard Lenz, an ambitious theatre director accompanied by the enigmatic Terry. The partygoers are consumed by the suspicious suicide of their mutual friend, Juan - a Spanish activist and Terry's former flame. As the evening unfolds, Philip ominously warns Anne of the unseen forces that claimed Juan's life, and prophesies a similar fate for Gerard. Despite the danger, Gerard remains steadfast in his pursuit of staging Shakespeare's "Pericles", despite lacking financial support. Anne, driven by a desire to help Gerard and unravel the truth behind Juan's death, finds herself stepping into the world of theatre. As she navigates through this labyrinth of secrets and deception, Anne becomes an integral part of a play that extends far beyond the stage.
