Parasite (1982)

In the desolate aftermath of a limited nuclear war that has ravaged the USA in 1992, a brilliant scientist named Paul Dean weaves a dangerous dance with destiny. After developing a leach-like parasite that grotesquely expands with every meal, his experiment spirals out of control when nefarious government agents invade his sanctuary, forcing him into the harsh, unforgiving realms of the surrounding desert. Pursued relentlessly by a ruthless agent known only as the "Merchant", Paul carries a dual burden - the last two parasites he has created. One, a ticking time bomb ensnared within a silver container, the other, a living nightmare nestled inside his own abdomen. His quest for survival leads him to a small desert town, a ragged settlement of scavengers who pose a constant threat to his mission. Amongst the rubble and ruin, Paul finds an unexpected ally in Patricia Welles, a courageous local girl who stands with him against the encroaching dangers. Together, they face the daunting task of exterminating the parasite within Paul without ending his life in the process.
