In the heart of U.S.-based Western Novelty, seismic changes are afoot as the decision to outsource personnel to India sends shockwaves through the company. Todd Anderson, a manager teetering on the precipice of redundancy, is dispatched on an unexpected journey to the vibrant heart of Gharapuri to train his replacement, Purohit. Navigating through the bustling streets of Mumbai, Todd is humorously christened 'Toad' in a charming translation mishap, a lighthearted hint of the cultural acclimation he must undergo. Encased in an above-ground bunker-like building that houses the new call center, Todd is greeted by an eager workforce, novices ready to be molded in the American way. However, the task ahead is not as straightforward as he anticipates. Asha Bhatwadekar, the new Assistant Manager, emerges as a beacon of wisdom amidst his cultural confusion. She gently nudges Todd towards the realization that to effectively train his Indian counterparts, he first must immerse himself in their rich tapestry of traditions and customs. The ensuing journey of discovery takes Todd deep into the heart of India, exploring the mysticism of Devi Maa Kali and Bhagwan Shri Shankar, the joyous cacophony of Holi festivities, the quaint quirks of local lingo, the revered status of cows, and the unique Indian interpretation of American fast-food chains. As Todd learns to appreciate the nuances of his new surroundings, he inadvertently stumbles upon a revelation: a new 'India' teeming with outsourcing potential. He also unravels the true meaning of a 'Holiday in Goa', a metaphor that transcends its literal interpretation.
