Caught in the confines of a monotonous job, Robin Turner is a gay hairdresser with a passion for classic cinema. His fondness for the silver screen breathes life into his clients' hair, sculpting them in the likeness of celebrated movie icons, whether they're game or not. His apartment is also a sanctuary for his dear friend, Liza Connors, a medically diagnosed schizophrenic weary of the sterile walls of institutions. An unexpected twist of fate arrives when Liza convinces Robin to grace a drag ball, masquerading as the legendary Tallulah Bankhead. This taste of liberation propels Robin onto a new path, and with Liza's persistent encouragement, he steps into the spotlight as a female impersonator.
