Plot

In the heart of the rugged West, Out of the Wild unveils the tale of a weathered cowboy, Henry McBride, tormented by a past that not even the harshest liquor can erase. Down to his last penny and with no place left to turn, he finds himself at the last bastion a seasoned cowboy would ever dream of: a dude ranch. Here, he encounters Jessie King, a tough-as-nails rancher with an unyielding affection for her equine companions. In this unexpected sanctuary, McBride embarks on a journey of self-discovery when King introduces him to an unorthodox method of taming a troubled mustang—a creature whose history and disposition eerily echo his own. As their stories intertwine, King perceives a kindred spirit nestled within these two battered beings—a spirit buried under layers of heartache, guilt, and years spent in the harshest corners of life. She sees past the shattered remnants of a lost family, a soul scarred with remorse, and an endless cloud of alcohol used to numb the agony. She believes, beneath it all, McBride is a decent man, just as she believes in the mustang's capacity to reclaim its spirit. Out of the Wild spins a compelling narrative of redemption, propelling McBride beyond his deepest traumas to uncover a life he had written off as impossible. It's a story of resilience, of man and beast, navigating their way out of the wilderness of their past towards a future they never dared to envision.
