Plot

In the aftermath of the May 1968 social upheaval, "Out 1" paints a profound picture of a society grappling with the shattered shards of once hopeful utopian dreams, and the unsettling emergence of radical terrorism in the most unanticipated corners. Our journey unfolds through the eyes of two societal outcasts, Colin and Frederique, each oblivious to the other's existence. Colin, a seemingly mute individual, mysteriously finds his voice, while Frederique, a cunning con artist, thrives on swindling unsuspecting men by exploiting their assumptions of her being a lady of the night. Simultaneously, two distinct theatre troupes are neck-deep in the rehearsal of classic Greek dramas, "Seven Against Thebes" and "Prometheus Bound". An unexpected note referencing "The 13" finds its way to Leaud from a member of the Moretti group, sparking an obsessive quest for "The 13". This pursuit leads him to the mysterious "L'Angle du Hasard" shop owned by Bulle Ogier in Les Halles. A parallel adventure ensues when Berto, having stolen a valuable cache of letters from Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, seeks to profit by returning them to their rightful owners. These intertwining activities stir the dormant "The 13," unveiling startling revelations, including the fact that the two theatre groups were once a single entity. "Out 1" is a riveting exploration of societal disillusionment, personal quests, and the inexplicable forces that weave the intricate tapestry of human existence.
