Plot

Nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Kamakura, the Koda sisters—Sachi, Yoshino, and Chika—share life's joys and sorrows within the nostalgic walls of their late grandmother's ancestral home. Abandoned by their father for another woman and later deserted by their mother who followed suit, the sisters have woven their bond tighter than the norm. Sachi, the eldest at twenty-nine and a nurse by profession, plays the role of surrogate mother to her younger sisters, with the vivacious Yoshino and spirited Chika adding their own distinct colors to the familial tapestry. Their routine existence, however, is stirred when they receive news of the death of their estranged father. Attending the funeral more out of obligation than sentiment, they discover an unexpected thread in their tangled family lineage—Suzu, their thirteen-year-old half-sister. This lively, enchanting young girl, the product of their father's infidelity, becomes an instant source of fascination for them. The sisters, sensing an irresistible bond with Suzu and doubting the capabilities of Yoko, their father's widow, as a suitable guardian, extend an invitation to the young girl. Suzu's arrival at their Kamakura home marks a new chapter. Will this unexpected addition, this little sister, breathe new life into the Koda household, offering them a fresh perspective and a renewed purpose in life? The story of "Our Little Sister" delicately weaves this narrative, exploring the depths of sisterhood and the strength found in shared histories and collective memories.
